Privacy notice

Plain language, with no hidden toast.

This notice describes the behaviour verified in the current Raise a Glass app code. It will be updated if the app or its services change.

Last updated: 17 October 2026

Information we collect

Sign in with Apple is required. The app stores the Apple-provided account identifier, a chosen username, and an optional profile image in Apple CloudKit. Shared activity includes Round membership, invitations, photos, cheers, timestamps, and any city or country label you choose to attach.

Information on your device

Sign-in details are kept in Keychain. App settings, seen status, recent Round information, and a configurable number of recent raises are cached on the device. Photos taken for a raise are temporarily stored locally for upload.

iCloud and CloudKit

The app uses Apple CloudKit to sync profiles, Rounds, invitations, photos, cheers, optional city/country labels, and related timestamps. CloudKit uses Apple’s public database for the app; this means shared content is available to the people and views it is intended for, rather than being private iCloud Drive storage.

Analytics and diagnostics

No advertising or third-party analytics SDK is present in the current app code. Apple may process platform diagnostics according to your device settings and Apple’s own privacy terms. The final App Store privacy disclosure still requires confirmation before launch.

Notifications

Notifications are optional and use Apple Push Notification service with CloudKit subscriptions. You can deny permission in the system prompt and change notification settings later.

Location

Location access is optional. When enabled, Apple geocoding converts the device location into chosen city and/or country labels. Precise coordinates are not attached to a raise. Location is requested only when you enable these labels.

Third-party services

The current app relies on Apple services including Sign in with Apple, iCloud/CloudKit, push notifications, location, geocoding, camera, and Photos. It includes an open-source profanity list that runs within the app.

Data retention and deletion

Round raises are eligible for automatic deletion after 30 days. Content flagged for review or under a legal hold is retained while that status applies. Account and Round deletion tools remove associated CloudKit records on request. Some local cached data may remain until the app clears it or the app is removed.

Your choices and rights

You can turn off notifications and location labels, leave eligible Rounds, delete raises you posted, and use the in-app account deletion control. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing of personal data.
